Dentures

While dentures may never feel exactly the same as your natural teeth, they are useful in restoring both function and appearance in many situations. We supply patients with several types of dentures, including full or partial dentures and acrylic and cobalt chrome dentures.

New dentures take some getting used to as you need to learn to eat and speak with a device in your mouth, and this can take some time. A bulky or loose feeling is not uncommon as the muscles of your cheeks and tongue learn to hold your dentures in place. Minor irritation, excessive saliva flow and a feeling that your tongue does not have adequate room are not unusual feelings when having dentures for the first time. If you experience irritation, you can visit your dental professional to adjust your dentures.

It is important to keep your dentures and your soft tissues clean, as bacterial infections can thrive in your mouth. At a minimum you should see your dental professional annually for an examination.
